Dearest Raya,

This is our team of doctors and nurses when I gave birth to you.

This may be a long overdue letter, but I was waiting for the time when I could finally process everything.

I want to introduce you to them, my love.

First, our anesthesiologist, Dr. Alano.

He made sure I was okay the whole time. He kept asking me if I was alright, reassuring me that we could do it. He asked me if I wanted to meet you, and I said yes. That’s why he didn’t put me to sleep. His presence felt like a father beside me—calm, steady, and comforting. Because of him, I didn’t feel alone.

Second, Dr. Betha Fe Castillo, Dr. Reyna’s mom.

During your wake, many people from Dagupan asked who my doctor was. When I told them her name, they were surprised. I later found out that many prominent people in Region 1 had her as their OB. They even said she is one of the best in Pangasinan.

She may be strict, but she cared deeply. She checked on me even at night. She made sure both of us were okay. She would come into the room, listen to your heartbeat through the doppler, and smile. Even in her quiet ways, I felt safe and cared for under her hands.

Lastly, Dr. Angelica Reyna.

There’s so much I want to say about her, my love. It felt like a coincidence when I was referred to her, but now I believe it wasn’t. She wasn’t originally my OB, but she chose to take care of me.

I used to think miracles didn’t exist, but through her, I started to believe that maybe they do. She has helped so many women become mothers. She laughs, she can be strict, but she truly cares. She made sure I didn’t worry too much, even when I know she understood how serious my condition was.

I never felt in danger, even when I probably was.

I am so grateful to her, my love, because she was there when you were born. Even though she had somewhere else to go, she stayed. She told me that you wanted her to be the one to bring you into this world… and I’m so thankful she was there with us.

My love, if you had stayed… I would have asked you to become a doctor someday. I would have wanted you to save lives, just like they did for us. That will always be one of Mommy’s dreams for you.

Your nurses were also so kind. Everyone in our floor, MCB2, was excited to meet you. They took care of us so well, and I will always be grateful for them. If I am ever given another chance, I would want to be under their care again.

My love, the world felt so harsh when you left.

But even now, you continue to save me.

There are moments when I feel like giving up, but you always pull me back. You remind me to stay. You guide me, even from heaven. And for that, I am forever grateful.

I will keep writing to you, my love.

I hope somehow you can read every letter.

Please wait for Mommy in heaven.

Until we meet again.

I love you always and forever,

Mommy 🤍
